Max Pinson

Business Manager

Overland Park, KS | Otterbein University ‘22

Max is very happy to be returning for his third summer in Hyannis Sound! He is 21 years old and graduated last May from Otterbein University in Westerville, OH with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Music.

Max began singing in choir in fifth grade and developed his passion for singing and performing in musicals throughout middle and high school. He was also involved in an a cappella group in high school (Soundproof; Kansas City A Cappella), and because he wasn’t in a college a cappella group, he is so excited to be spending his summer with Hyannis Sound.

In the fall, Max moved to New York City, and he spent his winter playing Art Garfunkel in the national tour of The Simon & Garfunkel story. He is so thankful for everyone who supported him during his college career and helped him get to where he is today.

Outside of singing, Max loves learning useless trivia, playing the piano, trying to learn languages on Duolingo, and going on long drives. He is always looking for good TV show/movie recommendations (especially comedies and documentaries). Max is loving being back on Cape Cod and can’t wait for another summer full of singing and reuniting with members of the wonderful Cape Cod community!

Cristian is thrilled to be returning to Hyannis Sound for his third summer as the music director! Hudson, NH | University of New Hampshire ‘23

Jimmy is so excited to be back for his fourth summer with Hyannis Sound! He’s looking forward to making new memories and exploring the Cape with this year’s group.

Jimmy was born and raised in southern New Hampshire, growing up in Londonderry, NH and moving to Hudson his freshman year of college. He is 21 years old and will be completing his degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration this fall at the University of New Hampshire. At UNH, Jimmy sings with his co-ed a cappella group Alabaster Blue, and is a leader in the New Hampshire Outing Club.

Logan Dawson

residential coordinator

Acton, MA | Johnson & Wales University ‘22

This is Logan’s 2nd summer in the Hyannis Sound. He is thrilled to be back to give and receive all he can from a returning member of Hyannis Sound!

Logan grew up partly in San Diego and part in Wayland, Massachusetts. He graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I. in spring 2022 where he studied Baking and Pastry Arts as well as taking classes in song production at Berklee School of Music. He has always had multiple passions and strives to chase them all and make his dreams come true.

During his experience at JWU, he founded the school’s first-ever A Cappella Group called Cutting Edge A Cappella. The group was composed of students of all backgrounds including other aspiring savory and pastry chefs. In addition to founding the group, he also served as President, Vice President, Music Director, arranger, and the group's Vocal Percussionist. Starting the group was a life-changing experience for him, giving him experience not just in A Cappella music but in entrepreneurial and leadership skills, as well. He hopes to apply much of his experience to his experience in Hyannis Sound.

This past year, Logan worked as a pastry cook at the Four Seasons One Dalton Street, in Boston MA. He worked on the pastry team to create Amenities for the hotel guests as well as items for their Afternoon Tea, and brunch services. He learned very much from this experience that will benefit him in whatever is next for his path.

Whether it be through performing or baking for people, he strives to create connections and share experiences with others. When he's not working in kitchens or performing, Logan loves to produce songs pulling from his experience in A Cappella arranging and wind band. He finds it as a unique way of expression and a way to explore his introspective side.

Logan wants to thank the support of his family, voice teachers, and friends for always lifting him up and encouraging him to shoot for his dreams.

Xavier Cornell

alumni coordinator

Canoga Park, CA | Manhattan School of Music ‘25

To say Xavier’s excited to be back on the Cape is an understatement!  Though he may be one of the tallest members of the group at 6’2”, he’s (still) the Sound’s youngest member this summer at just 19 years old.  Xavier is originally from Canoga Park, California meaning he’s no stranger to a beachy atmosphere!  He currently studies Musical Theatre at Manhattan School of Music in New York City and is entering his Junior year next fall.

Xavier comes from a very athletic family, but after some trials and errors in his young athletic career, his whole family was on the same page that sports were not his calling. He started singing in his church’s youth choir and has been in love with music ever since! He participated in his first ever musical (The Sound of Music, where he played a dancing marionette) the summer before his 4th grade year and hasn’t stopped doing musical theatre since.  He fell in love with a cappella in high school after joining his school’s competitive group Abbe Road. Around the house, he’s most known for being the member that “was on The Voice” after competing on Season 21 of NBC’s hit singing show and making it to the Top 32 on Team Kelly Clarkson!

In his free time, Xavier enjoys going on walks, songwriting, doing color by numbers (on his phone), watching Survivor, and playing basketball!

Xavier’s thrilled to be starting his second summer and can’t wait to sing up and down the Cape all summer long!

Reshawn Murphy

Public relations liaison

Raleigh, NC | University of North Carolina, Charlotte ‘23

Reshawn is ECSTATIC for his first summer in Hyannis Sound! He is 23 years old and was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a senior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in German. His goal after graduating is to go into federal law enforcement.

Reshawn has been into music and performing his entire life. Growing up, his mother sang around the house so often that he was able to teach himself how to sing. In elementary school, he picked up the flute and learned how to play up until his freshman year of high school. During his sophomore year of high school, he joined his step team where he performed and competed for three years up until he graduated, and he coached for two years after. During his senior year of high school, he decided to join his school’s choir to strengthen his vocal abilities and to experience singing in a group setting.

In his second semester of college, Reshawn joined Codachrome A Cappella, and after three years of singing bass, he became Music Director for the group in 2022. His group competed in ICCA 2023 where he personally received an Outstanding Arrangement Award for the entire set!

Reshawn is very thankful for his entire family and his friends who support him in all of his endeavors. He cannot wait to see what the Cape has to offer and is excited to meet you all this summer!

Earl McBride

social media manager

Burlington, NC | University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill ‘24

Earl is ecstatic to be on the cape this summer singing some of his favorite tunes with the Hyannis Sound. Hailing from Burlington, NC, Earl is a 21 year old eccentric musician and scholar. While not on the cape, he attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studies Psychology and Neuroscience. Go heels! Earl will be entering his fourth and final year at UNC next fall.

His initial a cappella journey began in high school when he auditioned for WA Cappella at Western Alamance High School. There, he became passionate about making music with his friends and the process of composing and arranging music. However, it was not until matriculating into UNC that Earl realized his desire to pursue music in way that would affect individuals on a larger scale. As a sophomore, Earl was the music director of Tar Heel Voices and later, the Assistant Music Director and Social Chair of UNC’s awarding-winning Tarpeggios. Earl credits the Tarpeggios as an integral component of his a cappella journey and development as a musician and individual.

Although music is a large component of Earl’s life, he is also passionate about how the brain works and the variables that are associated with mental illnesses. Earl currently works in a lab within the Psychiatry  Department of the UNC Medical School, studying the risk factors, causes, and course treatment of clinical high risk symptoms associated with psychosis. Eventually, Earl plans to attend a dual MD-PhD program to specifically aid in the healthcare disparities within marginalized communities and youth. He plans to utilize music as an alternative medicine.

When he is not singing a cappella or pursuing academic endeavors, Earl enjoys traveling, binging tv shows (especially Marvel) and anime, playing the piano, and trying new food, often provided by his cooking friends.

Earl is excited for a wonderful summer with his new best friends!

Raymond Ortiz

social media coordinator

Los Angeles, CA | University of Southern California ‘25

Raymond Ortiz, one of our resident So-Cal natives, is excited to be living on the East Coast for the first time… especially with the Hyannis Sound! His passion for jazz, pop, and all contemporary music styles are able to flourish in the vibrant city of Los Angeles where he studies Jazz-Voice at the University of Southern California. But, of course, most of his time at USC is spent singing & arranging with The SoCal VoCals.

Ever since he was a child, Raymond loved dancing, shouting, and creating. He always knew he was a performer. Now, his involvement in the Los Angeles music industry has opened him up to opportunities such as performing with Pentatonix at the Hollywood Bowl, and performing for Sandra Oh and Simu Liu at the “2022 Unforgettable Gala” in a Disney/Pixar live production. After college, Raymond aspires to become a session-singer, voice teacher, and freelance musician in the LA area.

As a Mexican American and first-generation college student, he is immensely grateful for all of the support that his parents and friends have provided him in all his artistic endeavors. He can’t wait for the best summer of his life on The Cape!
